What it is
Anti-wrinkle injectable treatments involve prescription-only medicines, which by law can only be prescribed after a face-to-face consultation with a qualified prescriber. This appointment is that consultation: a medical assessment of your suitability, your facial anatomy and your goals.
What it may help with
At consultation, your prescriber can discuss whether treatment of expression lines, such as frown lines, forehead lines and lines around the eyes, may be appropriate for you. Whether treatment may help, and to what degree, is individual and is assessed in person.
Who it may be suitable for
Adults over 18 who would like a professional, medical opinion on softening expression lines, and who value subtle, natural-looking outcomes over dramatic change.
Who it may not be suitable for
Treatment is not appropriate for anyone under 18, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with certain neuromuscular conditions, or with infection in the treatment area. A full contraindication check forms part of the consultation, if treatment is not right for you, we will tell you.
What to expect
Your prescriber takes a full medical history, examines your face at rest and in expression, and discusses what treatment can and cannot achieve for you. If treatment is appropriate and you wish to proceed, a prescription is issued and treatment is scheduled. A cooling-off period may be recommended.
Consultation & safety
Prescribing decisions are made only by our independent prescriber, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, following face-to-face assessment: never remotely, and never delegated.
Aftercare
If you proceed to treatment, you will receive written aftercare covering the first hours and days, what is normal, and how to contact the clinic with any concern. A review appointment is offered as standard.
Possible side effects & risks
Possible side effects of anti-wrinkle injectable treatment include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, headache and, uncommonly, asymmetry or heaviness of the brow or lid, which is usually temporary. Rare risks are explained at consultation. All risks are discussed before you consent to anything.
