What it is
Polynucleotides are purified fragments of DNA, typically fish-derived, injected into the skin to support its own regenerative processes, encouraging hydration, elasticity and repair rather than adding volume. They have become a considered option for delicate areas such as under the eyes.
What it may help with
- Crepey, tired-looking skin under the eyes (assessed carefully, not all under-eye concerns are skin concerns)
- Skin quality, elasticity and fine lines
- Support for skin repair, including some types of scarring
Who it may be suitable for
Adults looking for gradual, natural improvement in skin quality, particularly in delicate areas, following a suitability assessment.
Who it may not be suitable for
Not suitable under 18, in pregnancy or breastfeeding, with fish allergy (product-dependent, reviewed at consultation), or with active infection or inflammation in the treatment area.
What to expect
After consultation and numbing where needed, a series of small injections is placed in the treatment area. Mild swelling or small bumps can persist for a couple of days, especially under the eyes. A course of sessions is usually recommended, with results building gradually.
Consultation & safety
The under-eye area in particular demands honest assessment, where the concern is hollowness, pigment or anatomy rather than skin quality, we will say so and discuss alternatives (or none).
Aftercare
Keep the area clean and cool; avoid make-up for 24 hours and strenuous heat or exercise for 48 hours. Written aftercare is provided, with direct clinic contact for any concern.
Possible side effects & risks
Temporary swelling, redness, bumps and bruising are the most common effects. Allergy is rare but screened for. All risks are explained before consent. Results vary between individuals and build gradually.
