What to Expect at Your First Skin Consultation

By Abi Peters · 22 June 2026 · 1 min read

If you have never been to a skin clinic before, the first consultation can feel like a leap. Here is exactly what happens at ours, so nothing is a surprise.

Before you arrive

Nothing special is needed. Come with clean skin if you can, or be happy for us to cleanse the areas we examine. If you use skincare regularly, photos of the products (or the products themselves) genuinely help. Bring a list of any medication.

The conversation

We start with your story, not your skin: health, medication, lifestyle, previous treatments and, most importantly, what actually bothers you and what you'd like to be different. You will not be talked into concerns you didn't arrive with. Ever.

The examination

Your practitioner examines your skin in proper light, sometimes with photography or skin analysis where useful. You'll get a plain-English explanation of what she sees, what's normal, what's changeable, and what's driving the thing that bothers you.

The plan

You leave with a written plan. It might be skincare-first. It might include treatment options with honest pros, cons, costs and timescales. It might be reassurance that nothing needs doing. All three are good outcomes.

What you won't get

No same-day pressure, no countdown offers, no treatment of anyone under 18, and no injectable treatment on the day of a first prescribing consultation without proper process. The decision is yours, made at home, in your own time.

Afterwards

Take your time. Message the clinic with any questions. Book when, and if, you're ready.

Start with a conversation about your skin

Every treatment journey begins with an unhurried consultation, an honest assessment of your skin, your options and what is realistic for you. There is never any obligation to proceed.
